Hispanic Leadership Association of NJ Honors Ralph Padilla, Others

VINELAND -- The late Ralph Padilla was honored posthumously at the Hispanic Leadership Association of New Jersey's 11th annual Achievement Awards and Scholarship Gala on Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Merighi Savoy Inn.

The annual gala recognizes individuals and groups from across the state for their outstanding work in the Latino community.

Padilla, who died in June months after receiving a liver transplant, was the CEO of the influential South Jersey nonprofit Puerto Rican Action Committee of Southern New Jersey. He received the HLA's Founder's Award at the gala.

Judge Jason Witcher Comes Full Circle With Returns to Rutgers Law as Professor

  BY CLYDE HUGHES | AC JosepH Media ELMER – The retired and dignitary Municipal Court Judge Jason Witche r will come full circle this fall when he returns to his alma mater, Rutgers University Law School , as a professor. Here he will instruct students in a class about inequality as he also wraps up his very first book at home. Witcher made headlines in 2022 when he charged Millville Municipal Court with discrimination against Latinos in court scheduling, which led to the New Jersey Attorney General filing a civil rights complaint against the institution.
